Before your next hello.
The basics of signing in, meeting people and what happens after your trip.

Getting started
Who can use Wingmate?
Wingmate is for travellers aged 18 and over. You need an account and trip details to meet other passengers.
Do I need to download anything?
Open Wingmate in your browser. You can add it to your phone’s home screen.
How do I add my flight?
Enter your trip details in the app, including your airport, terminal and departure time. Check them against your airline’s information and update them if they change.
Is my airport supported?
A trip can start at Barcelona (BCN), Vienna (VIE), London Heathrow (LHR) or London Gatwick (LGW), and go on to any of 85 destinations. Trips from other airports are refused for now, rather than dropping you into an empty terminal. Being on the list does not mean anyone else is checked in.
How do I sign in?
With Google, or with your email address — Wingmate sends a four-digit code and there are no passwords. Apple sign-in is not switched on yet.
What if my feed is empty?
Other travellers need to be checked in and match your preferences to appear. Check your trip details and preferences, and try again later. A match is not guaranteed.
Meeting people
Meeting people
When can someone see my photo and seat?
Only after you have both chosen to reveal to each other.
Do I have to join a group?
No. Terminal groups are optional. Mutual reveal still applies to photos, one person at a time.
What are talking points?
Choose up to three questions to answer on your profile, alongside your “Who am I” card, travel history, favourite countries and languages. Someone can like a specific card and add a comment.
Can I send pictures or voice notes?
Chats support pictures and voice notes. Voice recording depends on your device and microphone permission.
How do meeting-place suggestions work?
Where terminal venue data is available, chat suggests places near your gate areas. Tapping a suggestion drafts an invitation; you choose whether to send it. Coverage currently includes Vienna and Barcelona.
Are identities verified?
No. Wingmate does not check identities or backgrounds. Meet in a busy public place, keep your belongings with you and stay aware of boarding time.
How do I block or report someone?
Use the block or report controls in the app. If you are in immediate danger, contact airport security or a member of airport staff.

Where are terminal maps available?
Detailed terminal maps and food listings currently cover Vienna (VIE) and Barcelona (BCN). Other airports can still appear in the trip picker without detailed map coverage.
Can I see exactly where another person is?
The terminal map shows counts by gate area, not individual passenger pins. Your own gate can be marked on the map.
Are security waits and opening hours live?
Security waits are estimates from traveller reports. Venue details come from OpenStreetMap, and opening hours appear only where supplied. Check airport signs and allow enough time to board.
Groups and rides
Groups and rides
Can I create a private group?
Yes. Create an open terminal group or a private group with a friend, then share its invite link. The person who started the group can rename it. Groups hold up to six people.
How many groups can I join?
A free account can be in one terminal group at a time. Pro supports up to three. Ride-group membership is separate.
Does Wingmate book my taxi?
No. The Ride lane helps travellers with similar departure times coordinate sharing a car. A car group has room for four people; an XL group has room for five. Arrange the actual journey yourselves.

What does Wingmate cost?
The app is free: three reveals a trip and one terminal group. Wingmate Pro is €4.99 a month or €29.99 a year, with the first seven days free, and a Trip Pass covers 72 hours for €1.99.
Can I subscribe today?
No. The payment provider is not switched on in the live app, which says “Test mode · No money moves” on the Pro screen. Nothing is charged and no subscription starts.
How do I cancel Pro?
In the app, in two taps. Pro keeps running until the period you paid for ends. Starting a subscription means giving up the fourteen-day right of withdrawal, which the app asks you to confirm.

Can I hide my profile?
Yes. Turn off your visibility in the You tab to stop appearing in other people’s feeds.
Where are my settings?
You → Settings: privacy and safety, your block list, the notification switch, the app language, the legal documents, and signing out or deleting your account.
How do I delete my account?
Open You → Delete account and confirm. If a running subscription cannot be cancelled, deletion stops so you are not left paying for a deleted account. Payment, consent and moderation records have separate retention periods in the Privacy Notice.
After your trip
After your trip
When do my trip and chats expire?
Your terminal check-in expires one hour after boarding. Trip data is deleted within two hours after landing. A chat is kept only if both people choose to keep in touch.
Is my account deleted after landing?
No. Your account and profile remain for future trips until you delete your account from the You tab. The Privacy Notice explains retention for other records.
