Terms of Use
Version 2026-09-21
In short
- Wingmate is for adults (18+) who are travelling.
- Your profile is anonymous. Photos and seat numbers are only shown after you and another person both choose to reveal.
- Check-ins, chats and groups are deleted automatically after your trip.
- We do not check identities, bookings or criminal records. Meet people carefully.
- Wingmate Pro is a subscription (€4.99 a month or €29.99 a year, 7 days free the first time) that you can cancel in the app at any time — or a one-off €1.99 Trip Pass for 72 hours.
- Treat people with respect. Breaking the Community Guidelines can cost you your account.
1. Who we are and what these Terms cover
Wingmate is provided by [company name and legal form], [registered address], Austria (“we”, “us”). Our full legal details are in the Legal notice.
These Terms of Use are the agreement between you and us for using Wingmate: the web app at wingmate.fly.dev, the version you install on your home screen, and any later app. The Community Guidelines are part of these Terms. How we handle personal data is explained separately in the Privacy Notice.
2. Who can use Wingmate
You may use Wingmate only if all of the following are true:
- you are at least 18 years old;
- you create one account for yourself, with your own real first name, age and photos;
- you have not been removed from Wingmate before;
- you have not been convicted of a sexual or violent offence and are not required to register as a sex offender in any country.
You confirm your age when you accept these Terms. If we find that someone is under 18, we delete the account.
3. What Wingmate is — and what it is not
Wingmate helps travellers meet other travellers in the same airport terminal, on the same flight or, with Wingmate Pro, flying to the same destination. You enter your trip, check in, and see anonymous cards of people nearby. Photos and seat numbers stay hidden until you and another person both choose to reveal to each other. After a mutual reveal you can chat. You can also join a small group chat of people checked into your terminal, join a group to share a car to the airport with travellers flying out around the same time, and see or report how long the security check is taking. Offers from venues in the airport are planned but not available yet.
Wingmate is temporary by design. A check-in ends one hour after boarding, and your trip, reveals, chats and group memberships are deleted automatically afterwards, unless both people in a chat asked to keep in touch.
What we do not do. We do not verify anyone’s identity, age, booking, boarding pass or background, and we do not run criminal record checks. Information on profiles comes from users and may be wrong. Flight details looked up in the app come from third-party data providers and may be incomplete or out of date — the airport and your airline are always the authority on times and gates. We do not guarantee that you will meet anyone.
4. Your account
You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address, or with Google. Keep your email account and codes to yourself; you are responsible for what happens in your Wingmate account unless it was used without your fault. Tell us straight away at [support email] if you think someone else has access.
Keep your profile accurate. You can change your photos, card text and visibility at any time in the app.
5. What you post
You keep all rights to your photos, texts and messages. So that we can run Wingmate, you give us a non-exclusive, free, worldwide permission to store, copy, display and transmit that content, only to the extent needed to provide the service to you and to the people you choose to share it with. The permission ends when the content is deleted, except where we must keep something for legal reasons or to deal with a report.
You may only post content you have the right to post. Photos must show you, and nobody else who has not agreed to it. Do not post anything that breaks the law or the Community Guidelines.
6. Meeting people safely
You decide who you talk to, what you reveal and whether you meet anyone. Please read the safety tips. Meet in public areas of the airport, never leave your luggage with someone you have just met, and follow the instructions of airport staff, security and your airline at all times. Wingmate must never make you miss a flight or disturb airport operations.
If you are in danger, contact airport security or call 112.
7. Reports, moderation and your rights
You can report a person from their profile, and block them, at any time. You can also report illegal content to [reports email]; tell us what the content is, where it is, why you think it is illegal, and your name and email address unless the report concerns child sexual abuse material.
We review reports and may remove content, hide a profile, restrict features, or suspend or delete an account if it breaks the law, these Terms or the Community Guidelines. When we do, we tell the person affected what we did and why, unless the law or a safety risk prevents it. If you disagree with a decision, write to [support email] within six months and a person will look at it again. You may also turn to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body or to the courts.
8. Wingmate Pro
What you get. Wingmate Pro removes the limit of three reveals per trip; shows you who has revealed to you; opens the “Landing in” view of people flying to your destination; lets you use the destination filter and make your age range a deal-breaker; shows your card first in your terminal for the first hour after you check in; lets you look into the other terminals of your airport; lets you be in up to three terminal groups at once; and lets you choose which ride group to join. Pro is tied to your account.
Subscription and price. Pro is a subscription that renews every month (€4.99 per month) or every year (€29.99 per year), including VAT. You pay through PayPal; its own terms apply to the payment. The price is charged at the start of each paid period until you cancel.
Trip Pass. Instead of a subscription you can buy a Trip Pass for €1.99, including VAT. It gives you everything in Pro for 72 hours from the moment of purchase and does not renew. A second pass bought while one is running adds another 72 hours.
Founding members. If you subscribe while our launch prices apply, you keep your price for as long as your subscription runs without a break. If you cancel and subscribe again later, the price at that time applies.
Free trial. Each account can have one free trial of 7 days. You need to set up the subscription with PayPal to start it, but nothing is charged during the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription continues and the first €4.99 is charged when the trial ends. If you had a trial before, a new subscription is paid from the first day.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in the app (You → Wingmate Pro → Cancel subscription), or in your PayPal account. Nothing more is charged after you cancel. Pro keeps working until the end of the trial or of the month you already paid for; that time is not refunded, except where the law requires it. If a monthly payment fails and PayPal cannot collect it, Pro ends.
When the contract is made. When you approve the subscription with PayPal and we confirm it in the app.
Free months through referrals. Every account has a personal referral code. If a new traveller enters your code when creating their account with email, and then finishes signing up, you both get 30 days of Pro free. A code can only be entered when an account is created, not later, and cannot be used for your own account. You get free days for at most 12 new accounts per year; the new traveller always gets theirs. Free days are added to any free days you still have, run out on their own, and are never charged for. They do not pause a paid subscription, which continues to be billed as normal. Accounts created only to collect free months may be removed, and the free days with them.
Price changes. We will tell you about a price change at least 30 days before it applies to you. It only applies if you do not cancel before then, and never to founding members while their subscription runs without a break.
Right of withdrawal. As a consumer you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a contract made online. Pro is digital content that starts the moment the subscription starts. You can only subscribe by expressly asking us to start immediately and confirming that you know you then lose your right of withdrawal. Details and the model withdrawal form are in the withdrawal information.
If something does not work. Your statutory warranty rights for digital content (Verbrauchergewährleistungsgesetz) are not affected. Contact [support email].
9. Changes to Wingmate
Wingmate is new and will change. We may add, change or remove features, as long as it is reasonable for you, for example because of legal requirements, security, or changes in what third-party providers offer. We will not take away what you pay for with Pro during a paid month without an appropriate replacement or a proportionate refund. The service may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control.
10. Liability
We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health.
For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential obligations — the obligations that make Wingmate possible and that you may rely on — and only for typical, foreseeable damage. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer protection, in particular under the Austrian Consumer Protection Act (KSchG).
Other users are responsible for what they say and do. We are not liable for their conduct, online or in person, unless we are ourselves at fault under the rules above.
11. Ending your account
You can stop using Wingmate at any time. To delete your account, open You → Delete account in the app; a running Pro subscription is cancelled at the same moment. If you cannot sign in, write to [privacy email] from the email address of your account and we delete it within one month. What we keep after deletion, and for how long, is described in the Privacy Notice.
We may end these Terms with 30 days’ notice. We may suspend or delete an account immediately for a serious breach, such as harassment, threats, posting sexual content without consent, fraud, or being under 18.
12. Changes to these Terms
If we change these Terms, we show you the new version in the app and ask you to accept it before you continue. Important changes are summarised. If you do not accept, you can stop using Wingmate and ask us to delete your account.
13. Law and disputes
Austrian law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you normally live.
If you are a consumer living in Austria or the EU, you can bring proceedings in the courts where you live, and we can only sue you there. We are not obliged to take part in alternative dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration body and do not currently do so.
