Safety tips
Version 2026-09-15
In short
- Wingmate does not check identities or backgrounds.
- Stay in public, stay airside, stay in control of your bags.
- If you are in danger: airport security or 112.
Before you meet
- Get a feel for someone in the chat first. Take your time before revealing your photo or seat.
- Remember that profiles are not verified. People may not be who they say they are.
- Never send money, card details, codes or copies of your passport or boarding pass.
When you meet
- Meet in a busy public place inside the terminal — a café, a gate area, a lounge.
- Keep your luggage, passport and phone with you. Never agree to watch or carry someone else’s bag.
- Watch your drink and your boarding time.
- Tell a friend who you are meeting and where.
- You can leave at any moment, for any reason.
After landing
- A shared taxi or an onward meeting is your decision. Use official taxi ranks and share your trip with someone you trust.
- Chats disappear after the trip unless you both chose to keep in touch. Only share other contact details when you are sure.
If something is wrong
- In danger or threatened: contact airport security, any airport staff member, or call 112.
- Block and report the person in the app. Reports are confidential.
- If you were a victim of a crime, you can report it to the police at the airport.
